Valerian Valeriana officinalis (Caprifoliaceae), is known for its general calming effects. Valerian has pleasant, sweet smelling flowers and pungent aromatic roots. Despite its strong odor, valerian root has been used since the times of ancient Greece--commonly infused as a tea, the roots can also be mixed into herbal tea blends and tinctures.

Product Description

Valerian promotes natural relaxation and helps in coping with stress. A perennial plant native to Europe and Asia, it grows in meadows and woodlands within moist, temperate climates and has since been naturalized in North America. The pungent odor of its roots attract rats and cats are highly attracted to the scent--the same way that they are to catnip.
